Louis Belzile - Untitled / Oil/Panel, 1982, 14×18 in // 35.56×45.72 cm
Louis Belzile, Untitled 14x18 in / 35.56x45.72 cm created in 1982, this untitled work by Louis Belzile on paper mounted on panel explores texture and the interaction of forms with a more intimate format. It expresses an experimental approach while maintaining visual coherence and emotional depth.
Louis Belzile, along with Fernand Toupin, Jauran (Rodolphe de Repentigny) and Jean-Paul Jérôme, was part of the initial Plasticiens movement which, in 1955, at a notable exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, launched the Plasticiens Manifesto. Quebec and Canadian painting was then, and had been since the early 1940s, experiencing great creative effervescence, where abstraction claimed to be the language of pictorial renewal.
