Frère Jérôme, Untitled 4×40 in / 60.96×101.06 cm

Frère Jérôme, Untitled 4×40 in / 60.96×101.06 cm

Brother Jérôme, Untitled 24 x 40 in / 60.96 x 101.06 cm, is an oil on paper. This work, created in 1978, reveals the artist's meditative sensibility through a finely executed oil on paper.

Through this creation, Brother Jérôme offers us a sober and vibrant work, where the intimate meets the universal. This piece is available for acquisition, with the price communicated upon request.

The piece unfolds in a subtle balance between spontaneity of gesture and mastery of emptiness. The pictorial material, both fluid and textured, invites silent contemplation, where each nuance seems to convey introspection.

A great Canadian master, painter, professor, and educator, Brother Jérôme was born in Charlesbourg in 1902 (died in 1994). He studied from 1936 to 1938 at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal. A prominent figure in abstract art in Quebec due to the originality of his artistic and avant-garde work.

Brother Jérôme was more concerned with the development of the individual through creativity, a fundamental nuance that places his conception of art beyond the dogmas and conventions of society and the artistic world. Thus, this rather frail yet daring man would always be a rebel, challenging anything that hindered his artistic convictions.
